Hadith 12691
١٢٦٩١ - حدثنا وكيع عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه عن عائشة ﵂ (١) قالت إن أبا بكر كان لا يحلف على يمين فيحنث فيها، حتى (نزلت) (٢) كفارة اليمين، فقال: لا أحلف على يمين فأرى غيرها خيرًا (منها) (٣) إلا أتيت الذي ⦗٣٠٣⦘ هو خير وكفرت (عن) (٤) يميني (٥).
Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) would not break any oath before the revelation of the expiation for oaths. When the command regarding the expiation for oaths was revealed, he used to say that whenever I take an oath, I do what is better; if breaking the oath is better, then I break the oath and give the expiation.
