من قال لا نذر في معصية الله ولا فيما لا يملكNo vow for sin or for what one does not own
Hadith 12525
١٢٥٢٥ - حدثنا وكيع عن إسماعيل بن أبي خالد عن الشعبي عن مسروق قال: النذر نذران، (فنذر) (١) (للَّه) (٢) ونذر (للشيطان) (٣) فما كان للَّه ففيه الوفاء والكفارة، وما كان للشيطان فلا وفاء فيه ولا كفارة.
Hazrat Masruq says that there are two types of vows: one is a vow made for Allah and the other is a vow made for Satan. So, the vow that is for Allah must be fulfilled and there is also expiation for it, and the vow that is for Satan should not be fulfilled and there is no expiation for it.
