Imam Shu'bah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I asked Sa'd bin Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him): "Have you heard what is reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about Banu Najiyah, that they are a clan connected to me and I am from them? Is it narrated from a trustworthy narrator?" He said: "Yes, it is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd bin Amr bin Nufayl (may Allah be pleased with him)." He also related that the people of Banu Najiyah came to Sayyiduna Abdul Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) and presented him with 'Ilafi camel saddles as a gift.
Imam Shu'bah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Simak bin Harb told us: We used to visit Mudrik bin al-Muhallab in his army camp. Banu Najiyah were mentioned there, and a man was present whose grandfather was named Sa'id; he narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They are a clan connected to me, and I am from them."
