Hadith 11484

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say to her that the matter of the wives has made me concerned about you after me, and only those who are patient will be able to bear your words.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Then Sayyidah Aisha said to Abu Salamah: May Allah give your father to drink from the Salsabeel of Paradise. Indeed, he demonstrated true kinship by giving (a garden) to the Mothers of the Believers, which was sold for forty thousand.

Imam al-Albani rahimahullah has also narrated another supporting narration for this hadith: Sayyidah Umm Salamah radi Allahu anha reports that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said to his wives: ((Indeed, the one who will show kindness and compassion to you after me, he is the truthful and righteous one. O Allah! Give Abdur Rahman ibn Awf to drink from the Salsabeel of Paradise.)) (Hakim) … (O my wives!) Indeed, the man who will show kindness and compassion to you will be the truthful and righteous one. O Allah! Quench Abdur Rahman ibn Awf from the Salsabeel of Paradise.

It is evident from this that after the passing of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, the utmost respect and honor, as well as kindness and compassion, should be shown to his wives. Today, although the Mothers of the Believers are not present, mentioning them with goodness and refraining from casting aspersions on them while keeping their human nature in mind is a requirement of our faith and conviction.
