✦ Who Has the Right to Lower the Deceased into the Grave?

According to Islamic teachings, the closest relatives (awliya) of the deceased are more deserving of lowering the deceased into the grave.
🕊 Allah Almighty says:
وأولوا الأرحام بعضهم أولى ببعض
"And those with blood relations are closer to one another."
[Al-Anfal: 75]

The right to participate in the burial, especially in lowering the body into the grave, belongs first and foremost to the deceased’s relatives, in accordance with the Qur’an and Islamic tradition.
