Hadith Evidence:
Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:"When the Imam says: غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ, say 'Ameen,' because if a person's 'Ameen' coincides with the 'Ameen' of the angels, all his past sins will be forgiven."
(Muwatta Imam Malik: 48, Bukhari: 782, 4475)
In another narration from Abu Salih, on the authority of Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه), it is mentioned:
"When the Imam says 'Ameen,' then you should also say 'Ameen.'”
Both narrations are recorded by Imam Malik (رحمه الله).
(Muwatta Malik: 47, Bukhari: 6402, 780, Muslim: 410)
Key Takeaways:
➊ It is essential to say ‘Ameen’ when the Imam reaches غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ.➋ The angels also say ‘Ameen’ after these words.
➌ One should say ‘Ameen’ after the Imam has said it. Preceding the Imam or saying it simultaneously should be avoided as per Islamic teachings.
➍ When humans engage in worship in rows, the angelic beings also participate alongside them. If a person’s ‘Ameen’ aligns with that of the angels, his previous minor sins are forgiven.
➎ Angels primarily speak in Arabic but have knowledge of other languages as well.
