❖ Question:
If a fly falls into the food, what should be done?
❖ Answer:
If a fly falls into a person's food and dies, or is still alive, he should dip it once completely into the food and then remove it, and may eat the food—there is no objection in consuming it.
This ruling is supported by the ḥadīth in which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
إذا وقع الذباب فى شراب أحدكم فليغمسه ثم لينزعه فإن فى إحدى جناحيه داء وفي الأخرى شفاء
“If a fly falls into the drink of anyone among you, he should dip it (completely) and then remove it, for one of its wings has a disease and the other has a cure.”
Therefore, if a fly or something similar falls into food or drink, there is no harm in removing it and consuming the rest.
Key Point:
➤ The ḥadīth clearly establishes that the presence of a fly does not render food impure or harmful, if its Sunnah method of removal is applied.
