What Is the Sunnah Way to Break the Fast in Ramadan?

❖ Question:

With what is it best to break the fast?

Source: Fatāwā Amunpuri by Shaykh Ghulam Mustafa Zaheer Amunpuri

✿ Answer:

The most virtuous way is to break the fast with dates, as established in authentic narrations.

❀ Ḥadīth Evidence:

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to break his fast with fresh dates; if none were available, then with dry dates; and if none were available, he would take a few sips of water."
(Sunan Abī Dāwūd: 2356; Sunan al-Tirmidhī: 696 – sanad ḥasan)

✅ Conclusion:
① The Sunnah is to break the fast with fresh dates.
② If unavailable, then with dry dates.
③ If neither is available, then with water.
