Hadith 23: The Ox and the Wolf Talking
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Among the previous nations, there was a man riding a bull. The bull spoke to him and said: We were not created for riding, but we were created for farming. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I, Abu Bakr, and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) believe in this." And a wolf caught a goat. The shepherd ran after it and rescued the goat from its mouth, then the wolf said: Who will be the protector of the goats on the Day of the Beast? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I, Abu Bakr, and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) believe in this.

The objection raised by those who rejected Islam is that this hadith proves that the bull and the wolf spoke, which is against reason, so they deny the hadith.
Answer:
It is proven from the Holy Quran that birds and other animals speak; in the incident of Solomon (peace be upon him), the speaking of the ant and the hoopoe is established. Allah Almighty granted Solomon (peace be upon him) the miracle that he could understand their speech.
In the incident mentioned in the Hadith, the most probable explanation is that this rider and shepherd were pious servants of Allah Almighty, and this was their miracle, which does not always occur and is not within anyone's control. Only Allah Almighty manifests such extraordinary events so that the believing servant attributes this incident to Allah Almighty, thereby providing a permanent proof of Allah Almighty's divinity.
