Was the research of the Muhaddithin merely personal opinion? Answer in the light of the Quran

Clarification of the Doubt

Due to the scholarly criticism of the collection of hadiths, they lost the characteristic of spirituality and religious spirit, because people's opinions should not be included in religious matters!

Answer to the Doubt

First Point

The scrutiny of hadith in the science of hadith shows its importance because in acquiring any valuable thing, every possible investigation is employed to avoid any kind of adulteration.

Second Point

The scrutiny of the Sunnah was not carried out merely on personal opinions, rather its clear command is found in the Holy Quran:

Translation: O you who have believed! If a wicked person brings you any news, then investigate carefully, lest you harm a people out of ignorance and then regret what you did.

And He said:

Reference: (Surah Al-Ma'idah:8)

Translation: O you who have believed! Be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice.

Third Point

In worldly matters, we do not abandon anything merely because it requires investigation; rather, the more important something is for life, the more scrutiny we apply. So, is the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ of lesser status than worldly matters, such that investigating it would prevent its authority?

Fourth Point

Investigation regarding Hadith is a manifestation of Allah’s protection of the Sunnah, as He granted His servants the ability to dedicate their lives to this great purpose.
