❀ Question

One scholar holds the belief that the person who brought the throne of Queen Bilqis was a Prophet, interpreting the Qur’anic verse:

﴿قَالَ الَّذِیْ عِنْدَہٗ عِلْمٌ مِّنَ الْکِتَابِ﴾
(Surah al-Naml, Ayah 40)

The question is: Is this belief established by the consensus (ijma‘) of the Ummah?

❀ Answer

Alhamdulillah, was-salatu was-salamu ‘ala Rasoolillah, amma ba‘d!

You have cited the Qur’anic verse:

﴿قَالَ ٱلَّذِي عِندَهُۥ عِلۡمٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ﴾
(Surah al-Naml, Ayah 40)

Meaning: “He said, the one who possessed knowledge from the Book…”

You ask whether this is established through the consensus of the Ummah.

The answer is:
وبالله التوفيق
This matter is neither established from the Qur’an, nor from any authentic or sound Hadith of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, nor from the consensus of the Ummah. It is simply one among the opinions of scholars.

❀ Further Clarification

✿ There is no need to prolong this issue unnecessarily.
✿ Allah ﷻ has not made it our duty to know or to declare who exactly is meant by ﴿الَّذِیْ عِنْدَہٗ عِلْمٌ مِّنَ الْکِتَابِ﴾.
✿ Therefore, spending unnecessary time on this subject is not beneficial.

ھذا ما عندي والله أعلم بالصواب
