❶ It is narrated from Hazrat Miqdam (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
"ما أكل أحد طعاما قط خيرا من أن ياكل من عمل يده وإن نبي الله داؤد عليه السلام كان ياكل من عمل يده"
“No one has ever eaten food better than that which he has earned through his own hands. Indeed, the Prophet of Allah, Dawood (عليه السلام), used to earn his livelihood with his own hands.”

❷ It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
"أن داؤد عليه السلام كان لا ياكل إلا من عمل يده"
“Dawood (عليه السلام) used to eat only from what he earned with his own hands.”

Hazrat Adam (عليه السلام) worked in agriculture, Hazrat Dawood (عليه السلام) was a blacksmith, Hazrat Nuh (عليه السلام) was a carpenter, Hazrat Idrees (عليه السلام) used to sew clothes, Hazrat Musa (عليه السلام) herded goats, and Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) was engaged in trade. Therefore, adopting any lawful profession is permissible.
❸ It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
"لأن يحتطب أحدكم حزمة على ظهره خير من أن يسأل أحدا فيعطيه أو يمنعه"
“It is better for one of you to carry a bundle of firewood on his back than to beg from someone, whether he gives him something or withholds it.”

❹ It is narrated from Hazrat Zubair bin Al-Awwam (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
"لأن ياخذ أحدكم أحبله خير له من أن يسأل الناس"
“If any of you gathers his ropes and brings a bundle of firewood, it is better for him than to go around begging from people.”

❺ Hazrat Aisha (رضي الله عنها) said:
"كان أصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عمال أنفسهم، وكان يكون لهم أرواح ، فقيل لهم: لو اغتسلتم"
“The Companions of the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) used to work with their own hands. Due to intense labor, their bodies would emit an odor (from sweat), so it was said to them: It would be better if you perform Ghusl (ritual bath).”

✿ Virtue of Earning with One’s Own Hands
❶ It is narrated from Hazrat Miqdam (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
