Is it necessary to drink Zamzam water while standing? And is the Hadith authentic which states that Zamzam water fulfills the intention with which it is consumed?
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ʾAmma baʿd!
◈ It is preferable and more rewarding to drink while sitting.
◈ Although drinking Zamzam water while standing is permissible, it is in accordance with the Sunnah to drink it while sitting, which is more virtuous and brings blessings.
◈ The Hadith contains the clear wording:
«مَاءُ زَمْزَمَ لِمَا شُرِبَ لَهُ»
(Fatḥ al-Bārī – Sharḥ Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī – Book of Ḥajj – Chapter: What Has Been Reported Regarding Zamzam)

“Zamzam water is for whatever intention it is drunk for.”
