The wounding of the radiant face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Jihad fi Sabilillah

This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Abi Abdul Saboor Abdul Ghafoor Damni's book Fazail al-Jihad.

"Abdul Aziz bin Abi Hazim narrated from his father that he heard from Suhail bin Saad (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was asked about the wound of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) which he received on the day of the Battle of Uhud. He said that the radiant face of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was wounded, his front teeth were broken, and his blessed headgear (helmet) was also broken. Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), his daughter, was washing his blood, and Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was pouring water from a shield on it. When Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) saw that the blood was increasing instead of decreasing with the water, she took a piece of mat (made of date palm leaves) and burned it. When it turned to ashes, she applied it to his wounds, as a result of which the bleeding stopped."

Explanation and Benefits

➊ The two front teeth are called "Thanaya" and the teeth on the right and left sides are called "Ruba'iya." In the Battle of Uhud, as a result of Abu Waqas's stone-throwing, the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) lower middle tooth was broken and his lower blessed lip was injured. Abdullah bin Shihab Zahri had wounded the Prophet's forehead, and two of the Prophet's own ribs were pierced inside by the sword strikes of Abdullah bin Qumayyah.
➋ Ash, whether from date palm leaves or cotton cloth, stops the bleeding.
➌ The difficulties faced by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) are a lesson for the Ummah to endure hardships on the path of truth with a smiling face, and there is also a lesson in monotheism in this: the Prophet was not the master of all; otherwise, without enduring the difficulties of jihad, he would have made everyone Muslim in an instant.
➍ The justification for women's participation in jihad: From the mentioned hadith, the justification is derived for women to participate in jihad and to serve the wounded.
