Sayyiduna Saeed bin Zaid bin Amr bin Nufail رضي الله عنه says: I testify about nine men that they will enter Paradise, and if I testify about a tenth, I will not be sinful. It was asked, how is that? He said: We were with the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم at Hira when the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "Hira, remain, upon you are a Prophet, a Siddiq, and a Martyr." It was asked: Who were they? He said: The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم, Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali, Talha, Zubair, Saad, Abdul Rahman bin Awf رضي الله عنهم. It was asked: Who was the tenth? He said: It was I myself.

Qais narrates that I heard Saeed bin Zaid bin Amr bin Nufail رضي الله عنه in the mosque of Kufa saying that I saw myself in a state where Umar رضي الله عنه had tied me up because of my embracing Islam (before he himself accepted Islam).

The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: "Abu Bakr is of Paradise. Umar is of Paradise. Uthman is of Paradise. Ali is of Paradise. Talha is of Paradise. Zubair is of Paradise. Abdur Rahman bin Awf is of Paradise. Saad bin Abi Waqqas is of Paradise. Saeed bin Zaid is of Paradise. And Abu Ubaidah bin Jarrah is of Paradise." May Allah be pleased with them all.

The Companions of the Prophet, may Allah be pleased with them, had immense mutual affection and love. Therefore, when any Companion experienced any kind of pain or sorrow, the hearts of the other Companions would be filled with grief. One day, food was placed before Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf, may Allah be pleased with him, and he remembered the poverty of the early days of Islam. He said: "Mus'ab bin Umair was better than me. He was martyred and was not given a shroud except for one sheet. Hamza and other Companions who were better than me were martyred and were not given any shroud except one sheet. Perhaps in this world, we have received our comforts." Saying this, he began to cry and left the food.

◈ Hard Work for Livelihood:
When Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf رضي الله عنه migrated, the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم paired him in brotherhood with Saad bin Rabi رضي الله عنه. Because of this, Saad رضي الله عنه wanted to give him half of his wealth, but he said: "May this wealth be blessed for you; just show me a commercial market." Saad رضي الله عنه pointed out the route to the market of Qaynuqa. There, he started trading in cheese and ghee, and within a few days, he earned so much profit that he was able to get married. And he got married.

◈ Distribution of Wealth:
Umm Bakr bint Mas'ud, may Allah have mercy on her, narrates that Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, may Allah be pleased with him, sold one of his lands for forty thousand dinars and distributed the entire amount among the tribe of Banu Zuhrah, poor Muslims, emigrants, and the purified wives of the Prophet, peace be upon him. Some of this money was sent to Lady Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, who asked, "Who sent this wealth?" I said, "Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, may Allah be pleased with him." Then the one who brought the money told the story of Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf selling the land and distributing all its price. Upon this, Lady Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, had said that after me, only patient people will treat the purified wives with kindness. (Then Lady Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, prayed) May Allah make Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf drink from the Salsabil spring in Paradise.

Urwah says: Sayyiduna Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) went to the house of Abu Ubaidah ibn al-Jarrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who was lying on a saddlecloth and using the bag for feeding the horse as a pillow. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him, "Why did your companions build houses and acquire possessions, but you did not?" He replied, "O Commander of the Faithful! This provision is sufficient to reach the grave." And in the narration of Mu'ammar, when Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) went to the land of Sham, the people and the leaders there welcomed him and inquired about Abu Ubaidah (may Allah be pleased with him). The people said that he would come to you soon. When he arrived, Umar dismounted from his mount and embraced him. Then he went to his house and saw only these items: a sword, a shield, and a saddle. Then the same theme as the previous narration was mentioned.
