When Ibrahim (peace be upon him) left his children in the valley of non-cultivation, he prayed to Allah for them to establish prayer:
"O our Lord! I have settled some of my offspring in a valley without cultivation, near Your Sacred House, O our Lord! That they may establish prayer. So make the hearts of people incline towards them and provide for them fruits so that they may be grateful."

Maryam (peace be upon her) pointed towards her son, Sayyiduna Isa (peace be upon him), and told the people to ask him, but the people said, how can we talk to a baby? Isa (peace be upon him) heard their words and spoke. When Isa (peace be upon him) spoke for the first time, he declared himself a servant of Allah, denied being His son, and continued saying: And he was commanded to pray and give zakat as long as he lives, and to be obedient and dutiful to his mother.
Thus it is stated:
"The child said (i.e., Isa (peace be upon him)): Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet. And He has made me blessed wherever I am, and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakat as long as I live."

Prayer is a means of divine help. Thus it is stated:
"And seek help through patience and prayer; indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah] who know that they will meet their Lord and that they will return to Him."
