The Virtue of Seeking Help Only from Allah in the Light of the Quran and Hadith

This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Abu Hamza Abdul Khaliq Siddiqi's book Sahih Fazail Amaal.

The Virtue of Asking for Help Only from Allah Almighty

"Seeking help" means asking for assistance, which is an act of worship that is only permissible to Allah. Therefore, if a person wants to seek help in difficulties, he should ask only from Allah. Allah Almighty has said:
﴿فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ مَوْلَاكُمْ ۚ نِعْمَ الْمَوْلَىٰ وَنِعْمَ النَّصِيرُ﴾ ‎
"So know that indeed your protector is Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Wise."
Reference: (8-Al-Anfal:40)

At another place, addressing the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), it is said:
﴿أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۗ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ مِن وَلِيٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ﴾
"Do you not know that to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth? And besides Allah, you have neither any protector nor any helper."
Reference: (2-Al-Baqarah:107)

Hafiz Ibn Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) states that a servant is commanded to say إياك نعبد وإياك نستعين in every prayer. Because Satan commands him to commit shirk by associating others with Allah, seeking help from others, and asking for help from prophets, righteous people, and those buried in graves instead of Allah.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that once I was traveling on a camel with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). He said, "O boy! I will teach you some words: Guard the commands of Allah (with respect and practice), and He will protect you. Guard Allah (with complete belief in His presence), and you will find Allah before you. Ask your needs from Allah alone, and if you want help, seek His assistance. Remember! If all people gather to benefit you, they can only benefit you as much as Allah has decreed for you. And if all people gather to harm you, they cannot harm you except as much as Allah has written for you. The pens have been lifted, and the pages have dried."

Al-Albani (may Allah have mercy on him) declared it "Sahih."
The result of seeking help from Allah is Paradise. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Iyad bin Sahar Majashi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said in a sermon one day:
وأهل الجنة ثلاثة: ذو سلطان مقسط متصدق موفق، ورجل رحيم رقيق القلب لكل ذي قربى، ومسلم عفيف تعفف ذو عيال .
"There are three types of people who will enter Paradise:
⟐ A ruler who judges with justice, speaks the truth, and is granted the ability to do good deeds.
⟐ A person who is kind and gentle to every relative and every Muslim.
⟐ A person who is chaste and despite having dependents, does not ask anyone for anything."

Furthermore, Sayyiduna Thawban, the servant of the Messenger of Hashim, states that the Master of mankind, the Master of the Prophets, the Noble Messenger (peace be upon him) said: من تكفل لي أن لا يسأل الناس شيئا وأتكفل له بالجنة .
"Whoever guarantees me that he will not ask anyone for anything, I guarantee him Paradise."
So Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! I guarantee it." (The narrator says) that he did not ask anyone (other than Allah) for anything.

Al-Albani (may Allah have mercy on him) declared it "Sahih."
