The Virtue of Protecting the Rights of Allah in the Light of the Quran and Hadith

This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Abu Hamza Abdul Khaliq Siddiqi's book Sahih Fazail-e-Amaal.

The Virtue of Protecting the Rights of Allah Almighty

From studying the Book of Allah, it becomes clear that Allah Almighty did not create humanity in vain or as a game. Rather, their creation has a purpose and objective, which Allah Almighty has mentioned in His Book, the Holy Quran:
“He who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed.”
Reference: (67-Al-Mulk:2)

In the light of the above verse, the wisdom behind the creation of humanity appears to be their test and trial, so that those who do good may receive their reward and those who do evil may receive their punishment. Therefore, it is essential for every believer to recognize, understand, and then hold verbal and practical belief in the rights and duties of their true Creator. But alas! Most people are ignorant about this, and even those who have knowledge of these rights and duties do not seem to strive to fulfill them.
These rights and duties are:
① To believe in Allah.
② To obey Allah.
③ To worship Allah.
④ To refer to Allah in matters of dispute.
⑤ Not to disobey Allah in any matter.
⑥ To abandon innovations (bid’ah).
⑦ Not to associate anyone with Allah.
⑧ To wish well from Allah.
⑨ To love Allah.
⑩ To remember Allah.
⑪ To protect the religion of Allah.
⑫ To avoid obeying false deities (Taghut), etc.
So, whoever observes the rights of Allah and obeys Him, Allah Almighty will admit him into such gardens beneath which rivers flow, where they will neither die nor be expelled from. Allah Almighty says:
“And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger - He will admit him to gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide therein forever. And that is the great attainment.”
Reference: (4-An-Nisa:13)

As a final word, remember that whoever observes the rights of Allah, Allah Almighty protects him. Thus, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said:
“One day I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said, ‘O son! I will teach you some important things (remember them): Protect Allah’s rights! Allah will protect you. Take care of Allah’s rights, and you will find Him before you, meaning His protection and help will be with you. When you ask, ask only Allah. When you seek help, seek help only from Allah. And know that if the whole Ummah gathers to benefit you with something, they will not benefit you with anything more than what Allah has written for you. And if they gather to harm you with something, they will not harm you with anything more than what Allah has written for you. The pen has been lifted and the pages have dried.’”

Allama Albani (may Allah have mercy on him) declared it authentic.
