The Virtue of Breaking the Fast Early

Allah Almighty says:
"It has been made permissible for you to have sexual relations with your wives on the night of fasting; they are your garments and you are their garments. Allah knew that you used to deceive yourselves, so He accepted your repentance and forgave you. So now have relations with them and seek what Allah has decreed for you, and eat and drink until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct from the black thread. Then complete the fast until the night. And do not have relations with them while you are in retreat in the mosques. These are the limits set by Allah; do not approach them. Thus Allah makes clear His signs to the people so that they may become righteous."

In this noble verse, Allah the Exalted has explained the matters related to fasting, including the specified times for the pre-dawn meal (Suhoor) and breaking the fast (Iftar).
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
"People will remain in goodness as long as they hasten to break their fast."

Abu Atiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that I went to Sayyida Aisha Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) in the company of Masruq. We asked:
"O Mother of the Believers! Among the companions of the Noble Messenger (peace be upon him), there are two persons; one hastens to break the fast and perform the prayer, while the other delays breaking the fast and also delays the prayer." Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) asked: "Which of them hastens to break the fast and perform the prayer?" We replied: "Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him)." Then Sayyida Aisha Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to do the same."
