The Virtue of Adopting Humility in the Light of the Quran and Hadith

The Virtue of Adopting Humility

Allah Almighty is the Owner of the entire universe and possesses immense power. Undoubtedly, the One who has power and might is also worthy and deserving of greatness, grandeur, and majesty. Now, if any of Allah’s creation abandons their true position of humility and expresses arrogance, then this is greatly disliked by Allah Almighty. Whoever places their hand on Allah’s cloak of pride and grandeur and disobeys His commands, Allah Almighty has erased such people from existence. Famous examples of this are Pharaoh, Qarun, the people of ‘Aad and Thamud, etc. And He has granted a high status to His humble servants, such as the Prophets (peace be upon them), the truthful ones, the martyrs, and the righteous.

“The servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth humbly, and when the ignorant address them, they say peace.”
Reference: (25-Al-Furqan:63)

“Is one who is devoted to worship during the hours of the night, prostrating and standing in prayer, fearing the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord, equal to one who does not? Say, ‘Are those who know equal to those who do not know?’ Indeed, only those who are endowed with understanding take admonition.”
Reference: (39-Az-Zumar:9)

“Only those believe in Our verses who, when they are reminded by them, fall down in prostration and glorify the praise of their Lord, and do not become arrogant. Their sides do not turn away from their beds, seeking their Lord’s pleasure with fear and hope, and they spend from what We have provided them.”
