The virtue and commandments of walking towards the mosque

This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili's Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnoaat.

Instructions Regarding Walking More Steps Towards Mosques

① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
ألا أدلكم على ما يمحو الله به الخطايا ويرفع به الدرجات؟
"Shall I not tell you of a deed through which Allah forgives sins and raises ranks?" The noble companions رضي الله عنهم said: Why not? O Messenger of Allah! Please tell us. He صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
إسباغ الوضوء على المكاره، وكثرة الخطا إلى المساجد، وانتظار الصلاة بعد الصلاة، فذلكم الرباط، فذلكم الرباط
"Performing ablution well despite dislike, walking more steps towards the mosques, and waiting for the next prayer after the prayer, this is ribat, this is ribat."
Reference: Muslim, Book of Purification, 251. Tirmidhi, Book of Purification, 51.

"Ribat" means it carries the reward of Jihad. Originally, ribat means to be prepared for Jihad and to tie the horse. Some have said: ribat is what something is tied to. The meaning of the hadith is that these qualities bind a person from going towards sin and prevent him from sinning. Lughat al-Hadith
