Author: Dr. Muhammad Ziya-ur-Rahman Azmi رحمه الله
《Chapter: What Has Been Reported Regarding Consultation》
◈ The Significance of Seeking and Giving Advice ◈

❖ Hadith on the Trust of Consultation:

Narrated by Abū Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه):

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“The one who is consulted is entrusted.”
📚 Ḥasan – Reported by Abū Dāwūd (5128), al-Tirmidhī (2822), Ibn Mājah (3745)

❖ Key Principle:

This hadith establishes that consultation (mashwarah) is not a casual exchange of opinions—it is a matter of trust (amānah).
When someone seeks advice:

✔ The advisor must be truthful,
✔ Must sincerely intend the benefit of the one seeking guidance,
✔ And must not disclose any sensitive information shared during the consultation.
