◈ The Significance of Seeking and Giving Advice ◈
Narrated by Abū Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه):
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“The one who is consulted is entrusted.”
Ḥasan – Reported by Abū Dāwūd (5128), al-Tirmidhī (2822), Ibn Mājah (3745)
This hadith establishes that consultation (mashwarah) is not a casual exchange of opinions—it is a matter of trust (amānah).
When someone seeks advice:
✔ The advisor must be truthful,
✔ Must sincerely intend the benefit of the one seeking guidance,
✔ And must not disclose any sensitive information shared during the consultation.
