The Times and Occasions of Dua's Acceptance

Authored by: Dr. Raza Abdullah Pasha حفظ اللہ

I am afflicted with a severe illness and wish to learn about the times when supplications are accepted.

Answer:

It is narrated from the Noble Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم:

『أدعوا لله و أنتم موقنون بالإجابة』

“Supplicate to Allah while being certain of the response.”

The times of acceptance are as follows:
Laylat al-Qadr
After the obligatory prayers
In the last third of the night
Between the Adhan and Iqamah
At the time of the Adhan for the obligatory prayer
At the time of the Iqamah
When rain is falling
At the time of encounter with the enemy in the path of Allah
In the final moments of Friday
During Suhoor (pre-dawn) time
When drinking Zamzam water with good intention
When waking up at night
By reciting the Prophetic supplications and the dua: “لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ”
At the start of the prayer
Before concluding the prayer (before Salam) while reciting: “اللهم إني أسئلك يا الله الواحد الصمد الذى لم يلد ولم يولد ولم يكن له كفوا أحد”
On the Day of Arafah at the time of Hajj supplication
When the rooster crows
