Who are the seven famous Qurra’ (reciters of the Qur’an) known as Qurrāʾ Sabʿah?
❖ Answer:
The term Qurrāʾ Sabʿah refers to the seven renowned Qur’an reciters, whose names are as follows:
① Nāfiʿ ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Nuʿaym
② ʿAbdullāh ibn Kathīr Mawlā ʿAmr al-Kinānī
③ Abū ʿAmr ibn al-ʿAlāʾ al-Tamīmī
④ ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿĀmir ibn Yazīd al-Dimashqī
⑤ ʿĀṣim ibn Bahdalah al-Kūfī
⑥ Ḥamzah ibn Ḥabīb ibn ʿAmārah al-Zayyāt
⑦ ʿAlī ibn Ḥamzah ibn ʿAbdillāh Abū al-Ḥasan al-Kisāʾī al-Naḥwī

These seven are the most famous Qur’an reciters whose readings were widely transmitted and preserved, hence they are collectively referred to as Qurrāʾ Sabʿah.
