The ruling on the sacrifice of castrated and non-castrated animals in the light of authentic hadiths

This excerpt is taken from Professor Dr. Fazl Elahi's book Masail-e-Qurbani.

Sacrifice of Castrated and Non-Castrated Animals

Sacrificing both castrated and non-castrated animals is proven from the Sunnah. Below, by the grace of Allah, two narrations on this subject are presented:
➊ The hadith indicating the sacrifice of a castrated animal by the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, is the one narrated by Imam Abu Ya'la from Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with them, that
The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, was brought horned, large, castrated rams. He chose one of them and said: "In the name of Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. From Muhammad, peace be upon him, and his Ummah, who testified to your Oneness and bore witness to my divine message."

➋ The hadith indicating the sacrifice of a non-castrated animal by the Noble Messenger, peace be upon him, is the one narrated by Imams Abu Dawood, Tirmidhi, Nasa'i, and Ibn Majah from Hazrat Abu Sa'id Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, who said:
”كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يضحي بكبش أقرن فحل ينظر فى سواد ويأكل فى سواد ويمشي فى سواد“
"The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, used to sacrifice horned, non-castrated rams, and their eyes, mouth, and limbs were black."

The wording of the hadith is from Sunan Abi Dawood. Sheikh Albani has declared it [authentic]. (See:

.
Allama Sindhi writes in the explanation of this hadith that there is actually no contradiction between this narration and the one apparently contrary to it, which states that the Prophet, peace be upon him, sacrificed a castrated animal, because both types of animals were slaughtered for sacrifice at different times.
