❖ Question

If a mosque imam desires to marry a woman who is already married and attempts to lure her into divorcing her husband, does such a person remain qualified to lead prayers?

❖ Answer

✘ If the incident is true, such a person is absolutely unfit to lead prayers.

🔹 The Prophet ﷺ instructed that imams should be chosen from among the righteous and virtuous — not from fāsiq (open sinners) or immoral individuals.

🔸 An imam attempting to separate a wife from her husband through deception or seduction is committing a grave sin, and such behavior constitutes clear moral corruption.

📖 Prophetic Saying (Hadith):
"Whoever incites a woman against her husband (to cause separation), he is not from among us."
📚 Sunan Abī Dāwūd

🛑 Hence, someone who engages in such an action is not qualified to serve as an imam from a Sharʿī perspective.
