There is great reward and merit in undertaking a jihadi journey in the way of Allah. As narrated by Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
لغدوة فى سبيل الله أو روحة ، خير من الدنيا وما فيها
"Setting out from home in the morning or evening with the intention of striving in the way of Allah is more valuable than the world and all that is in it."

Describing the virtue of setting out for jihad in the way of Allah, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
تكفل الله لمن جاهد فى سبيله ، لا يخرجه من بيته إلا جهاد فى سبيله وتصديق بكلمته ، بأن يدخله الجنة ، أو يرجعه إلى مسكنه الذى خرج منه ، مع ما نال من أجر أو غنيمة .
"Allah has taken a guarantee from the one who sets out for jihad in His way, that he will be admitted to Paradise, and only the cause of jihad in the way of Allah and affirming His word causes him to leave his home, or else he will return to the place from which he set out with reward or spoils of war."
