This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Abu Hamza Abdul Khaliq Siddiqi's book Sahih Fazail Amaal.
Allah Almighty says:
﴿يَسْأَلُونَكَ مَاذَا يُنفِقُونَ ۖ قُلْ مَا أَنفَقْتُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍ فَلِلْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالْأَقْرَبِينَ وَالْيَتَامَىٰ وَالْمَسَاكِينِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيلِ ۗ وَمَا تَفْعَلُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ بِهِ عَلِيمٌ﴾
"People ask you what they should spend. Say: Whatever wealth you spend, it is for parents, relatives, orphans, the poor, and travelers, and whatever good you do, Allah knows it."

In another place He said:
﴿وَلَٰكِنَّ الْبِرَّ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالْكِتَابِ وَالنَّبِيِّينَ وَآتَى الْمَالَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِ ذَوِي الْقُرْبَىٰ وَالْيَتَامَىٰ وَالْمَسَاكِينَ﴾
"Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but righteous is he who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets, and gives his wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy."

عن ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه عن النبى صلى الله عليه وسلم: الساعي على الأرملة والمسكين، كالمجاهد فى سبيل الله - وأحسبه قال: وكالقائم لا يفتر، وكالصائم لا يفطر
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "One who takes care of widows and the poor is like one who strives in the way of Allah." (The narrator of the hadith says that) I think he also said: "He is like the worshiper who does not slacken, and like the fasting person who does not break his fast."

The Prophet of Mercy (peace be upon him) said:
هل تنصرون وترزقون إلا بضعفائكم
"You are helped and provided for because of the weak people in society."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
On the Day of Resurrection, Allah Almighty will ask a man: "O son of Adam! I asked you for food but you did not feed Me." The man will say: "O Allah! You are the Sustainer of all people, how could I feed You?" Allah Almighty will say: "Do you not know that My such-and-such servant asked you for food but you did not feed him? If you had fed him, you would have found the reward with Me." Similarly, He will ask another man: "I asked you for water but you did not give Me to drink." The man will say: "O Allah! You are the Lord of the worlds! How could I give You water to drink?" Allah Almighty will say: "My such-and-such servant asked you for water but you did not give him to drink. If you had given him water, you would have found the reward with Me."
