This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Abu Hamza Abdul Khaliq Siddiqi's book Sahih Fazail-e-Amaal.
The Holy Quran is the Word of Allah Almighty. It is the most magnificent book, which Allah Almighty revealed upon the pure heart of His most beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Its recitation, memorization, understanding its explanation and interpretation, learning it, implementing its commands, and avoiding its prohibitions have been commanded.
There are countless verses in this regard, in which Allah Almighty has commanded the recitation of the Quran. A few are as follows:
"And recite what has been revealed to you of the Book of your Lord. None can change His words, and you will not find any refuge besides Him."
Reference: (18-Al-Kahf:27)
On the Day of Judgment, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ will complain to Allah Almighty about the polytheists of Makkah, saying, "O my Lord! These very people neglected Your Quran in the world. When it was recited before them, they mocked it, whistled, and made various noises so that people could not listen attentively." This complaint will be made so that Allah's punishment may be increased for them.
Another narration states that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ made this complaint to his Lord during his lifetime.
"Alas! Would that I had not taken so-and-so as a friend. He misled me from the Quran after it had come to me. And indeed, Satan is to man a clear enemy. The Prophet will say, 'O my Lord! Indeed, my people have abandoned this Quran.'"
Reference: (25-Al-Furqan:28,30)
Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) writes in the commentary of this verse that abandoning the Quran means leaving the Holy Quran in many ways. For example, a person does not listen to it attentively, does not believe in it, does not act upon it, does not consider it a decision in all his affairs, does not ponder over it, and does not treat his spiritual ailments through it. Hafiz Suyuti and Abu al-Saud, among others, say that this verse is a warning to those who do not recite the Holy Quran daily, that on the Day of Judgment, the Noble Prophet ﷺ will complain to Allah against them.

Furthermore, Allah Almighty has said that We revealed the Quran over twenty-three years according to the requirements of wisdom, so that you gradually teach it to the Companions, and the divine rulings are revealed gradually according to the conditions and interests of the people, and their hearts and minds become positive. Thus He said:
"And We have divided the Quran into parts so that you may recite it to the people gradually, and We have revealed it gradually."
Reference: (17-Al-Isra:106)
The Holy Quran should be recited with pauses. This is included in the etiquettes of the Holy Quran. It is said:
"And recite the Quran with measured recitation."

Sayyiduna Abu Malik al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "Purity is half of faith. Saying 'Alhamdulillah' once fills the scale (with good deeds), and saying 'Subhan Allah wal Hamdulillah' once fills the space between the heavens and the earth (with good deeds). Prayer is the light of the face in this world and the Hereafter. Charity is a means of salvation on the Day of Judgment. Patience is light, and the Holy Quran will testify for or against you on the Day of Judgment. Every person wakes up with his soul pledged, which he either frees by doing good or destroys by committing sin."

Whoever acts upon the following noble hadith, memorizes two or three verses daily, learns the translation and interpretation, will gather the blessings of this world and the Hereafter in a short time. The Noble Prophet ﷺ said:
"Who among you would like to go every day to Maqam Bathan or Wadi Aqeeq and bring two she-camels with large humps without any sin or severing of kinship? We said: O Messenger of Allah! We all want that. He ﷺ said: Then why does not each one of you go to the mosque and learn or recite two verses from the Book of Allah? These two verses are better than those two she-camels, and three verses are better than three she-camels, and four verses are better than four she-camels. Likewise, as many verses as there are, they are better than that many she-camels."

If we had not forgotten the lesson of the Quran,
The era would not have shown us hardship.
You have licked the books of philosophy and English,
But by mistake, you touched the Quran.
