The reward of performing Umrah in the light of the Quran and Hadith

This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Abu Hamza Abdul Khaliq Siddiqi's book Sahih Fazail-e-Amaal.

The Reward of Performing Umrah

"Indeed, Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah. So whoever makes Hajj to the House or performs Umrah - there is no blame upon him for walking between them. And whoever volunteers good - then indeed, Allah is appreciative and Knowing."
Reference: (2-Al-Baqarah:158)

In this noble verse, Allah Almighty has mentioned Umrah along with Hajj. Umrah is shorter compared to Hajj; it consists of performing Tawaf of the House of Allah in the state of Ihram, then offering two Rak'ahs at Maqam Ibrahim, performing Sa'i between Safa and Marwah, and shaving or trimming the hair. These are the fundamental acts of Umrah. Other acts are additional under these.
Furthermore, in another place, it is stated:
"And complete the Hajj and Umrah for Allah."
Reference: (2-Al-Baqarah:196)

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Performing Umrah in Ramadan is equivalent to Hajj, or (he said, the narrator is uncertain) equivalent to performing Hajj with me."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "One Umrah to the next is an expiation for the sins committed in between, and the reward of an accepted Hajj is Paradise."
