The reward of maintaining kinship ties with relatives in the light of the Quran and Hadith

This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Abu Hamza Abdul Khaliq Siddiqi's book Sahih Fazail-e-Amaal.

The Reward of Maintaining Ties with Relatives

Allah Almighty says:
"People ask you what they should spend (in the way of Allah). Say, 'Whatever wealth you spend, it is for parents, relatives, orphans, the needy, and travelers. And whatever good you do, Allah knows it well.'"
Reference: (2-Al-Baqarah:215)

"So, O my Prophet! Give the relatives their due, and the needy, and the traveler. This is better for those who seek the pleasure of Allah. Such are the successful."
Reference: (30-Ar-Rum:38)

People asked the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) what they should spend from their lawful wealth in the way of Allah, so Allah Almighty answered them and guided them that they can spend any lawful wealth in the way of Allah. Accordingly, they were taught that the greatest right holders of a person's kindness and good treatment are his parents. Spending on them and treating them well is the greatest virtue, and not spending on them despite their need is the greatest disobedience to them.
Reference: (Taseer ur-Rahman: 117/1)

"And those who join what Allah has ordered to be joined and fear their Lord and dread the evil reckoning."
Reference: (13-Ar-Ra'd:21)

In this verse and the preceding and following verses, Allah Almighty describes the qualities of the believing servants. Among them are those who maintain ties of kinship and treat relatives with kindness. For them, Allah Almighty has described the list of rewards and honors in this manner:
"For them is the home of the Hereafter, that is, the eternal gardens in which they will enter, along with their ancestors, their spouses, and their righteous offspring. And angels will come to them from every gate, saying, 'Peace be upon you for your patience.' How excellent is the home of the Hereafter."
Reference: (13-Ar-Ra'd:22 to 24)

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:

"Indeed, Allah created the creation, and when He finished their creation, the womb (kinship) stood up and said: 'Is this the place of the one who seeks refuge from you by severing kinship?' Allah said: 'Yes, are you not pleased that I join with the one who joins you and sever the one who severs you?' The womb said: 'Why not.' Allah said: 'Then this is for you.' Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'If you wish, recite this verse: Indeed, it is near that when you gain power, you will spread corruption in the land and sever your kinship ties. Those are the ones upon whom Allah has cursed and made them deaf and blind.'"

Great Benefit:

Consider that while condemning severing of kinship ties, you are encouraging the recitation of Allah Almighty's Quran as support.
Therefore, it is understood that you are the explainer and interpreter of the Holy Quran. The sayings of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ are the interpretation and explanation of the Holy Quran, and they are the revelation of Allah Almighty. Rejecting your hadith is rejecting the Holy Quran, as some people are caught in the great and severe trial of denying hadith. In reality, they are denying the Quran, may Allah protect us!
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man said: O Messenger of Allah! I have some relatives; I maintain ties with them, but they sever relations with me. I treat them well, but they treat me badly. I deal with them patiently and with forbearance, but they behave ignorantly towards me. The Prophet ﷺ said: If you are as you say, then it is as if you are putting hot ashes in their mouths, and there will always be a helper from Allah for you against them as long as your behavior remains the same.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"O people! Spread peace (salaam), feed people, maintain kinship ties, and when people are asleep, perform prayer. (As a result) you will enter Paradise in peace."

Al-Albani (may Allah have mercy on him) declared it "Sahih."
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man said: O Messenger of Allah! Tell me of an action that will admit me to Paradise and keep me away from Hellfire. The Noble Prophet ﷺ said:
"Worship Allah alone, associate no one with Him, establish prayer, give zakat, and maintain kinship ties."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Iyad bin Himar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Three types of people are of Paradise. One: a ruler who is just, charitable, and granted the ability to do good deeds. Two: a person who is kind and soft-hearted towards every Muslim and relative. Three: a person who avoids asking despite having dependents and refrains from begging."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "On Mondays and Thursdays, the gates of Paradise are opened. Then every servant whose sins are forgiven is forgiven except the one who harbors enmity against his (Muslim) brother. Then it is said: Give these two respite until they reconcile. Give these two respite until they reconcile."
Reference: Sahih Muslim, Book of Virtue, Chapter on the Prohibition of Enmity, Hadith No: 2565.

It is understood that those whose relations are correct and brotherhood is established will attain forgiveness.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with both) narrates that a man came to the Noble Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah!
"I have committed a major sin; is there any way for its forgiveness?" The Prophet ﷺ asked: "Is your mother alive?" He said: No. The Prophet ﷺ asked: "Is your maternal aunt alive?" He said: Yes. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Be good to her."
