This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Abu Hamza Abdul Khaliq Siddiqi's book Sahih Fazail-e-Amaal.
Allah Almighty says:
﴿لَّا يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ الْجَهْرَ بِالسُّوءِ مِنَ الْقَوْلِ إِلَّا مَن ظُلِمَ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ سَمِيعًا عَلِيمًا . إِن تُبْدُوا خَيْرًا أَوْ تُخْفُوهُ أَوْ تَعْفُوا عَن سُوءٍ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَفُوًّا قَدِيرًا﴾ .
"Allah does not like that any person should openly speak evil, except for the one who has been wronged. And Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. Whether you reveal a good deed or conceal it, or forgive an evil deed, indeed Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Powerful."

Sheikh Abdul Rahman As-Sa'di (may Allah have mercy on him) writes in the commentary of the mentioned verse:
Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, informs that He does not like that anyone should openly speak evil, meaning Allah becomes displeased with that person and punishes him. This includes all harmful and hurtful words, such as cursing, slander, and insults, because all such words are prohibited. Allah dislikes them. The opposite meaning of this noble verse is that Allah likes good speech, such as the remembrance of Allah, good and gentle pure words, etc."

عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما قال: مر رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم على قبرين، فقال: أما إنهما ليعذبان وما يعذبان فى كبير . أما أحدهما فكان يمشي بالنميمة ، وأما الآخر فكان لا يستتر من بوله
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by two graves and said: "Both of them are being punished, and they are not being punished for a major matter. One of them used to backbite, and the other did not avoid urine splashes."

قال حذيفة رضى الله عنه سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: لا يدخل الجنة قتات
Sayyiduna Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The backbiter will not enter Paradise."

From these ahadith, it is understood that among the causes of the punishment of the grave and the prevention from entering Paradise is backbiting. That is, whoever commits it is deserving of punishment before Allah.
Similarly, the opposite meaning will be that whoever refrains from backbiting will enter Paradise and will be safe from the punishment of the grave. So those who avoid it, this will not prevent their entry into Paradise, InshaAllah!
