This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Muhammad Iqbal Kilani's book "Al-Wala Wal Bara" .
حکم الولاء للٰہ سبحانہٗ و تعالٰی
It is obligatory upon the believers to love Allah in such a way that this love surpasses all other loves.
❀ [وَ الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡۤا اَشَدُّ حُبًّا لِّلّٰہِ ؕ]
And those who believe are stronger in love for Allah.

❀ [قُلۡ اِنۡ کَانَ اٰبَآؤُکُمۡ وَ اَبۡنَآؤُکُمۡ وَ اِخۡوَانُکُمۡ وَ اَزۡوَاجُکُمۡ وَ عَشِیۡرَتُکُمۡ وَ اَمۡوَالُۨ اقۡتَرَفۡتُمُوۡہَا وَ تِجَارَۃٌ تَخۡشَوۡنَ کَسَادَہَا وَ مَسٰکِنُ تَرۡضَوۡنَہَاۤ اَحَبَّ اِلَیۡکُمۡ مِّنَ اللّٰہِ وَ رَسُوۡلِہٖ وَ جِہَادٍ فِیۡ سَبِیۡلِہٖ فَتَرَبَّصُوۡا حَتّٰی یَاۡتِیَ اللّٰہُ بِاَمۡرِہٖ ؕ وَ اللّٰہُ لَا یَہۡدِی الۡقَوۡمَ الۡفٰسِقِیۡنَ]
O Prophet! Say, if your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your relatives, the wealth you have earned, your trade whose decline you fear, and your favorite homes are more beloved to you than Allah, His Messenger, and striving in His cause, then wait until Allah brings about His decision. And remember, Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient.

Explanation:
The decision refers to the punishment of Allah which can come in any form. For example, the imposition of oppressive, atheist, and godless rulers or the dominance of disbelievers. Both are forms of Allah's punishment.
❀ [عن أنس، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: ثلاث من كن فيه وجد بهن حلاوة الإيمان، من كان الله ورسوله أحب إليه مما سواهما، وأن يحب المرء لا يحبه إلا لله، وأن يكره أن يعود في الكفر بعد أن أنقذه الله منه، كما يكره أن يقذف في النار]
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas رضي الله عنه that the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: There are three things in a person that, if present, will make him taste the true sweetness of faith because of them. ① To love Allah and His Messenger more than anything else in the world. ② To love another person solely for the sake of Allah. ③ To dislike returning to the disbelief from which Allah has saved him as much as one dislikes entering fire.

Good people should befriend only Allah.
❀ [اِنَّ وَلِیَِّۧ اللّٰہُ الَّذِیۡ نَزَّلَ الۡکِتٰبَ ۫ۖ وَ ہُوَ یَتَوَلَّی الصّٰلِحِیۡنَ]
(O Prophet! Say) Indeed, my protector and helper is He who has sent down this Book, and He is the protector and helper of all the righteous.

The love of the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم for Allah Almighty
❀ [عن عبد الله بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ يحدث عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، أنه قال: لو كنت متخذا خليلا لاتخذت أبا بكر خليلا، ولكنه أخي وصاحبي، وقد اتخذ الله عز وجل صاحبكم خليلا]
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Masood رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: If I were to take anyone as a friend (other than Allah), I would have taken Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه as my friend, but he is my brother and a companion, and your Master (i.e., Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) has been made the friend of Allah.

The following prayers should be asked for attaining Divine love.
❀ [عن أبي الدرداء، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: كان من دعاء داود يقول: اللهم إني أسألك حبك وحب من يحبك والعمل الذي يبلغني حبك، اللهم اجعل حبك أحب إلي من نفسي وأهلي ومن الماء البارد]
Sayyiduna Abu Darda رضي الله عنه says that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: One of the prayers of Sayyiduna Dawood عليه السلام is this: O Allah! I ask You for Your love and the love of those who love You, and I ask for the ability to perform deeds that will earn me Your love. O Allah! Make Your love more beloved to me than my life, my wealth, my family, and cold water.
