Is there any evidence for performing Ruqyah (spiritual healing) in Islam?
Answer:
Yes, there is.
The Noble Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
『إعرضوا على رقاكم، لا بأس بالرقى ما لم يكن فيها شراه』
“Present your Ruqyahs before me. There is no harm in Ruqyah as long as there is no shirk in it.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith no. 6993; Sahih Muslim, Hadith no. 2266]
Thus, from this Hadith, we derive the legitimacy of performing Ruqyah using the Qur'an, Sunnah, and authentic supplications and remembrances.
