Knowledge of Inheritance
① Our master Uqbah bin Amir, may Allah be pleased with him, says:
تعلموا الفرائض قبل الظانين - يعني الذين يتكلمون بالظن
"Learn the knowledge of inheritance before speaking without certainty."
Reference: This is a Mawkuf Sahih. Bukhari 6/12. Hafiz Ibn Hajar, may Allah have mercy on him, said in Fath al-Bari 6/12: I could not find the source of this narration.
② Mujahid, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates that our master Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, considered his freed slave Ikramah reliable for learning and teaching the knowledge of inheritance.
Reference: Imam Bukhari mentioned this as a Muallaq in the Book of Disputes, Chapter on Trustworthiness of Those Whose Honor is Feared. Ibn Hajar states that Ibn Saad narrated it in Al-Tabaqat and Abu Nu'aim in Al-Hilyah. See Fath al-Bari 90/5.
