❖ The Reality of the Narration about Seeking Help from the Dead ❖

Question:
What do you say regarding the following narration?
It is attributed to the Prophet ﷺ:
"إذا تحيرتم فى الأمور فاستعينوا بأهل القبور."
“When you are confused in your affairs, seek help from the people of the graves.”
Answer:
This is a fabricated, false, and baseless narration.
❀ Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله (d. 728H) said:
هو كلام موضوع مكذوب باتفاق العلماء.
“By the consensus of the scholars, this is fabricated and false speech.”
(Iqtiḍāʾ al-Ṣirāṭ al-Mustaqīm 2/196)
Conclusion:The narration about seeking help from the people of the graves has no basis in Islam. It is unanimously declared fabricated and false by the scholars.
