✿ ذلك يوم التغابن
The foundation of Islam rests on three core beliefs: Tawḥīd (Oneness of Allah), Risālah (Prophethood), and Ākhirah (Hereafter). These beliefs are interlinked. The Master of the Universe sent His chosen prophets to explain the Oneness of Allah to mankind, so that on the Day of Judgement, Allah’s servants would be spared from divine punishment and become the inheritors of Paradise.
A study of the Noble Qur’an reveals that Makkan sūrahs generally focus on beliefs, while in the Madanī sūrahs, Allah has expounded laws and practical matters. In the Makkan period, the aim was to reform beliefs and embed the foundations of faith in the hearts of people. Although the revealed laws of the prophets (عليهم السلام) varied, there was always unanimity on beliefs.
✿ Importance of Belief in the Hereafter
The belief in the Hereafter is a fundamental tenet of Islam. The stronger this belief, the more refined one’s actions will be.
As the well-known saying goes:
“The abundance of names indicates the honor, virtue, and majesty of what is named.”
This highlights that the Day of Judgement is a tremendous and awe-inspiring day.
✿ The Last Revelation and Its Focus
In the final verse revealed in the Qur’an (al-Baqarah: 281), Allah directed humanity’s attention to this Day and instilled its fear in their hearts.
✿ Example of the Companions (رضي الله عنهم)
The Companions understood this reality deeply.
✿ Legacy of Our Predecessors
Our pious predecessors dedicated their lives to Islam, with the Hereafter ever before their eyes.
✿ Supplication
May Allah grant us the ability to follow in the footsteps of the Companions (رضي الله عنهم).
O our Lord! Grant us what You have promised through Your messengers and do not disgrace us on the Day of Judgement. Indeed, You never break Your promise. O Allah! Keep us steadfast upon the Qur’an and Sunnah and grant us death upon them. Āmīn.

✿ Importance of Belief in the Hereafter
The belief in the Hereafter is a fundamental tenet of Islam. The stronger this belief, the more refined one’s actions will be.
- Concern for the Hereafter inspires a life of abstinence.
- The fear of the Hereafter was so profound that it aged the Prophet ﷺ.
- Allah, in His Book, has called this Day by many names, repeatedly warning of its horrors.
As the well-known saying goes:
“The abundance of names indicates the honor, virtue, and majesty of what is named.”
This highlights that the Day of Judgement is a tremendous and awe-inspiring day.
- Success on that Day is eternal success.
- Failure on that Day is eternal failure.
This is the true criterion of success and failure.
✿ The Last Revelation and Its Focus
In the final verse revealed in the Qur’an (al-Baqarah: 281), Allah directed humanity’s attention to this Day and instilled its fear in their hearts.
- Salvation on that Day depends solely on pure faith and righteous deeds.
✿ Example of the Companions (رضي الله عنهم)
The Companions understood this reality deeply.
- They traded the world for the Hereafter.
- They suppressed their personal interests and desires, prioritizing Allah’s religion.
✿ Legacy of Our Predecessors
Our pious predecessors dedicated their lives to Islam, with the Hereafter ever before their eyes.
- They made the Qur’an and Sunnah their constant guide.
- Thus, honor, elevation, and success became their destiny.
