This excerpt is taken from the Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi by Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnooat.
① Sayyiduna Abu Saeed رضي الله عنه narrates from the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم, who said:
أفضل الجهاد كلمة حق عند سلطان جائر
The best jihad is to speak the word of truth before a tyrant king.

② Sayyiduna Tariq bin Shahab رضي الله عنه narrates that a man asked the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم, while his foot was in the stirrup: Which jihad is the best? The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
كلمة حق عند سلطان جائر
To speak the word of truth before a tyrant king.

① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه that the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
ويل للعرب من شر قد اقترب، أفلح من كف يده
For the Arabs, there is destruction and ruin from this evil that has come near. Whoever restrains his hand has succeeded.

① Sayyiduna Abu Dharr رضي الله عنه narrates, the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
”يا أبا ذر!“
"O Abu Dharr!"
I said, I am present, I am present. He صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
كيف أنت إذا أصاب الناس موت يكون البيت فيه بالوصيف؟
"What will be your condition when people will be victims of death and at that time the grave will be obtained in exchange for a slave?"
I said, Allah and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم know best. Or he said, the matter of Allah and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم is for me to accept whatever they please. He صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
عليك بالصبر
"You must hold firmly to patience."
Or he said:
تصبر
"You must be patient."
Then he said:
”يا أبا ذر!“
"O Abu Dharr!"
I said: I am present, I am present. He صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
كيف أنت إذا رأيت أحجار الزيت قد غرقت بالدم؟
"What will be your condition when you see the stones of Zait (a neighborhood of Madinah) stained with blood?"
I said, Allah and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم, whatever they please for me. He صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
عليك بمن أنت منه
"Hold firmly to those with whom you have a relationship (stay only with them)."
I said: O Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم! Should I not put my sword on my shoulder? He صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
شاركت القوم إذن
"Then you will have joined the people."
I said: Then what do you command me? He صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
تلزم بيتك
"Stay settled in your home."
I said, if they come to my home? Then he صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
فإن خشيت أن يبهرك شعاع السيف فألق ثوبك على وجهك يبوء بإثمك وإثمه
"If you fear that he will overpower you by the shine of the sword, then cover your face with a cloth, so he will return to himself and his sins."

② Sayyiduna Abu Musa رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said about the appearance of tribulations:
كسروا فيها قسيكم، واقطعوا أوتاركم، والزموا جوف بيوتكم، وكونوا كابن آدم
"At that time break your bows, cut the strings of your bows, stay settled inside your homes, and be like the good and better son of Adam عليه السلام."

① Sayyiduna Ibn Umar رضي الله عنهما narrates that Sayyiduna Umar رضي الله عنه gave us a sermon at the place of Jabiyah and said, the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم stood among us and said:
من أراد منكم بحبوحة الجنة فليلزم الجماعة، فإن الشيطان مع الواحد وهو من الاثنين أبعد
”Whoever desires a good portion of Paradise should stay connected with the congregation, for Satan is with the solitary person and stays far away from two people.“
