The Ruling on Disassociation from Disbelievers and Polytheists

Expressing Disavowal and Hatred towards Disbelievers and Polytheists is Obligatory.

Indeed, Ibrahim and those with him are a good example for you, for they said to their people, "Indeed, we are disassociated from you and from whatever you worship besides Allah. We have disbelieved in you, and there has appeared between us and you animosity and hatred forever until you believe in Allah alone."
Reference: (Surah Al-Mumtahina:4)

And it is a public declaration on the day of the greater pilgrimage from Allah and His Messenger to all people that Allah and His Messenger are disassociated from the polytheists. So if you repent, it is better for you; but if you turn away, then know that you cannot escape Allah. Give tidings of a painful punishment to those disbelievers.
Reference: (Surah At-Tawbah:3)

Allah Almighty commanded the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to disassociate from the disbelievers and polytheists.

O Muhammad (peace be upon him)! If these people disobey you, then clearly tell them that I am completely disassociated from what you do.
Reference: (Surah Ash-Shu'ara:216)

( O Prophet) Ask them whose testimony is the greatest? Say, Allah is a witness between me and you that this Qur'an has been revealed to me so that through it I may warn you and whomever it reaches to fear Allah. Do you really bear witness that there are other deities besides Allah? Say, I do not bear witness to that. Say, Allah is One God, and I am completely disassociated from the polytheism you commit.
Reference: (Surah Al-An'am:19)

Expressing disassociation, hatred, enmity, and detachment from Taghut is also obligatory upon every Muslim.

We sent a messenger to every nation, commanding them to worship Allah and to avoid Taghut.
Reference: (Surah An-Nahl:36)

O Prophet, have you not seen those who claim, "We believe in this Book which has been revealed to you, and in the books revealed before you," yet they wish to refer to Taghut for judgment in their affairs, while they were commanded to disbelieve in Taghut? Satan desires to lead them far astray.
Reference: (Surah An-Nisa:60)

Explanation:

Remember, Taghut refers to those leaders of disbelief who forcibly impose an unbelieving system upon Muslims.

Allah’s disassociation, hatred, and enmity towards the polytheists.

O you who have believed! The polytheists are unclean, so let them not approach the Sacred Mosque after this year.
Reference: (Surah At-Tawbah:28)

Indeed, those who disbelieve and die while they are disbelievers - upon them is the curse of Allah and of the angels and the people altogether.
Reference: (Surah Al-Baqarah:161)

The disbelievers are deaf, dumb, and blind; they do not use reason.
Reference: (Surah Al-Baqarah:171)

O Muhammad, do you think that most of the disbelievers will listen or understand your message? (Never) They are like cattle, rather, they are even more astray and further gone.
Reference: (Surah Al-Furqan:44)

Indeed, the worst creatures in the sight of Allah are those who disbelieve, and they will never believe.
Reference: (Surah Al-Anfal:55)

Those who oppose Allah and His Messenger are among the most humiliated creatures.
Reference: (Surah Al-Mujadila:20)

O Prophet! Say, shall I inform you of those whose end with Allah is worse than that of the sinners? (They are) those upon whom Allah has cursed, upon whom His wrath has fallen, and of whom some He transformed into apes and pigs, those who worshipped Taghut. Those are the worst in place and far astray from the right path.
Reference: (Surah Al-Ma'idah:60)

May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he. Neither his wealth nor what he earned will benefit him. He will enter to burn in a blazing fire, and his wife, the carrier of firewood, around her neck is a rope of palm fiber.
Reference: (Surah Al-Lahab:1-5)

Noah prayed: O Lord! Do not leave a single house of disbelievers on the earth. If You leave them, they will mislead Your servants, and their offspring will also be wicked and staunch disbelievers. O my Lord! Forgive me, my parents, and every person who enters my house as a believer, all the believing men and women, and increase the punishment and destruction of the wrongdoers.

And the forgiveness prayer that Ibrahim (peace be upon him) made for his father was based on the promise he had made to his father, but when it became clear to him that his father was an enemy of Allah, Ibrahim (peace be upon him) expressed disassociation from his father. Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was indeed very tender-hearted and patient.
Reference: (Surah At-Tawbah:114)

Finally, a severe earthquake came, and the disbelievers were left lying overturned in their homes, while the righteous left their towns saying, "O my people! I have conveyed to you the message of my Lord and have been a sincere well-wisher for you, but you do not like sincere well-wishers."

Forgive the believing men and believing women, the Muslim men and Muslim women, place affection in their hearts and reconcile them among themselves. Help them against their common enemy, O Allah! Curse those disbelievers among the People of the Book who deny Your Messengers and fight against Your friends, O Allah! Cause discord among them, make their steps falter, and send upon them a punishment that You do not turn away from the guilty people.
