Did Allah command the angels to prostrate to Adam (AS), and what did Iblis do?
Answer:
Allah Almighty states:
[Al-A'raf: 11]
"And We have certainly created you and given you shape; then We said to the angels, 'Prostrate to Adam'; so they prostrated, except for Iblis. He was not of those who prostrated."
Here, Allah Almighty is alerting the children of Adam to the honor He granted their father, Adam (AS), and is highlighting the enmity of Iblis towards them. This clarifies Iblis’ jealousy and hostility towards both them and their father so that they may be cautious and avoid following his ways.
Thus, Allah Almighty states:
When Allah created Adam from sticky clay, perfected his human form, and breathed His spirit into him, He commanded the angels to prostrate to Adam in honor. They all obeyed and listened to this command except for Iblis, who refused to prostrate.
