The appearance of signs of happiness on the blessed face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ upon the assurance of the Mujahid

This excerpt is taken from the book of Sheikh Abi Abdul Saboor Abdul Ghafoor Damni Fazail al-Jihad.

"Tariq bin Shahab narrates that he heard from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) who said that he heard from Miqdad bin Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) something which, if it had come from my tongue, would have been more beloved to me than anything else. He came to the presence of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) while the Prophet was cursing the polytheists. He said: 'O Messenger of Allah! We will not say what the people of Musa (Moses) (peace be upon him) said: اذهب أنت وربك فقاتلا (Go, you and your Lord fight them), rather we will gather on your right, left, front, and back and fight.' I saw that the blessed face of the Prophet (peace be upon him) began to shine and he became pleased."

Explanation

What happened was that on the day of Badr, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ set out from Medina upon hearing news of a Quraysh caravan. The caravan had already departed, and the battle with the army had begun, in which the disbelievers of Mecca had come prepared as aggressors. At this critical moment, the Prophet ﷺ inquired from all the companions about their views regarding the battle. At that time, all the Muhajireen and Ansar reassured him and expressed their readiness. The Ansar even said that if he took them to a faraway place called Barq al-Ghamad for battle, they would still accompany him and fight with all their heart and soul. This greatly pleased the Prophet ﷺ.
