How does Satan appear in dreams?
Answer:
The Noble Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
『من رآني فى المنام فقد رآني حقا فإن الشيطان لا يتمثل بي』
“Whoever sees me in a dream has truly seen me, for Satan cannot take my form.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith no. 6993; Sahih Muslim, Hadith no. 2266]
This is evidence that Satan enters the human body, to the extent that he even appears in dreams. It is not necessary for him to enter in his original form to penetrate the human body; he can assume various other forms in dreams.
But when Satan cannot enter (the Prophet’s form), how can he present frightening dreams that I see while asleep?
When Satan cannot enter the Prophet’s form, it does not negate his ability to enter the human body or influence the dreams of others. He can create terrifying images and scenarios in dreams by assuming different forms other than that of the Prophet.
