The Actions Loved and Disliked by Allah Almighty in the Light of the Quran and Hadith

Beloved and Disliked Deeds in the Sight of Allah Almighty​


Allah Almighty, while urging unity in religion, says:

[شَرَعَ لَکُمۡ مِّنَ الدِّیۡنِ مَا وَصّٰی بِہٖ نُوۡحًا وَّ الَّذِیۡۤ اَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ اِلَیۡکَ وَ مَا وَصَّیۡنَا بِہٖۤ اِبۡرٰہِیۡمَ وَ مُوۡسٰی وَ عِیۡسٰۤی اَنۡ اَقِیۡمُوا الدِّیۡنَ وَ لَا تَتَفَرَّقُوۡا فِیۡہِ]

He has prescribed for you the same religion which He commanded Noah to follow, and which We revealed to you, and which We commanded Abraham, Moses, and Jesus to uphold: that you maintain this religion and do not become divided in it.

Disliked Deeds:


[1] Associating partners with Allah (Shirk).

[2] Sorcery (i.e., magic).

[3] Judging against the command revealed by Allah and acting contrary to the Divine Shariah.

[4] Befriending disbelievers and polytheists such as Jews, Christians, and atheists, and sympathizing with those who commit shirk by worshipping prophets and righteous people alongside Allah.

[5] Taking bad omens and superstitions is shirk.

[6] Making the grave a place of prostration.

[7] Lighting lamps on them.

[8] Making shrines idols and holding onto them instead of Allah.

[9] Circumambulating around them.

[10] Kissing and licking them.

[11] Praying facing towards them.

[12] Swearing by anyone other than Allah.

[13] Deliberately abandoning prayer.

[14] Delaying prayer without excuse.

[15] Neglecting Friday prayer without excuse.

[16] Withholding zakat.

[17] Breaking fast in the month of Ramadan.

[18] Not performing Hajj despite having the means.

[19] Fleeing from the enemy on the day of battle.

[20] Not enjoining good and forbidding evil.

[21] Abandoning Sunnah and insisting on it.

[22] Innovations, mourning rituals, Urs, Milad.

[23] Not observing modesty during urination and not avoiding urine splashes.

[24] Wrongfully killing a person whose killing Allah has forbidden.

[25] Committing suicide.

[26] Killing, and worse than that is genocide.

[27] Adultery, and the worst adultery is committing adultery with a neighbor’s wife.

[28] Homosexual acts.

[29] Using intoxicants, the prohibition of alcohol and all intoxicating substances.

[30] Gambling.

[31] Falsely accusing honest, innocent, and chaste women.

[32] Stealing.

[33] Deliberately swearing a false oath.

[34] Eating forbidden (haram) food.

[35] Engaging in usury (interest).

[36] Consuming the wealth of orphans.

[37] Not paying wages.

[38] Harassing heirs.

[39] Deceiving in trade and commerce.

[40] Reducing weights and measures.

[41] Committing oppression and cruelty.

[42] Engaging in bribery transactions.

[43] Running errands between the bribe giver and taker.

[44] Giving false testimony.

[45] Disobeying parents.

[46] Insulting parents, not being kind to them.

[47] Depicting the life of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ or his family or the noble companions, or filming or staging the life of the family of the Messenger ﷺ.

[48] Making pictures of living beings such as humans, animals, birds, etc., and hanging them in homes or shops.

[49] Breach of trust.

[50] Breaking promises, fighting, and immorality.

[51] Lying in conversation.

[52] Treachery and breaking promises.

[53] Lying in fights and quarrels.

[54] Mocking and making fun.

[55] Finding faults, taunting, backbiting.

[56] Gossiping.

[57] Arrogance and pride.

[58] Harassing neighbors.

[59] Insulting a Muslim.

[60] Violating his honor and dignity.

[61] Not insulting one's own parents oneself but causing others to insult one's parents.

[62] Cursing a Muslim.

[63] Being two-faced.

[64] Hiding knowledge.

[65] Severing family ties.

[66] Attributing oneself to someone other than one's parents or tribe.

[67] Following disbelievers.

[68] Men imitating women and women imitating men.

[69] Women going out unveiled and without proper adornment.

[70] Inclination towards fornication and immorality instead of lawful marriage.

[71] Corruption in family and household systems and the prevalence of divorce.

[72] The spread of immorality and lustfulness.

[73] Genocide of the human race.

[74] Braiding hair.

[75] Tattooing bodies.

[76] Separating teeth.

[77] Plucking eyebrows to look beautiful.

[78] Looking lustfully at a strange woman.

[79] Being alone with a strange woman, touching her.

[80] The benefits of lowering the gaze and the harms of evil eye.

[81] Inciting a wife against her husband.

Deeds beloved to Allah:


The deeds beloved to Allah are as follows, emphasized in some verses of Surah Al-Baqarah:

[1] Believing in the unseen (Allah’s essence, revelation, punishment of the grave, and all matters of the Hereafter).

[2] Performing prayer.

[3] Spending in the way of Allah.

[4] Believing in revelation.

[5] Belief in the Hereafter.

[6] Believing in Allah, the Day of Judgment, angels, Allah’s books, and the prophets, fulfilling promises.

[7] Being patient.

[8] Adopting the attitude of [سَمِعْنَا وَ اَطَعْنَا] (We hear, we obey).

[9] Observing piety (Taqwa).

[10] Believing and seeking forgiveness from Allah for sins.

Reference: The following commands are mentioned in the verses of Al-Imran (15 to 18, 134 to 136)
:

[11] Being patient, speaking the truth, obeying, spending in the way of Allah, seeking forgiveness from Allah for sins on the previous night, and not considering anyone as a deity besides Allah.

[12] Spending in the way of Allah in times of hardship and ease, restraining anger, forgiving people, doing good to others, and seeking forgiveness if one commits a sin.

[13] Worshiping only Allah, not associating partners with Him, treating parents, relatives, orphans, neighbors, travelers, maidservants, and slaves well.

[14] Giving truthful testimony even if it is against someone, acting justly.

[15] Obeying Allah and His Messenger ﷺ.

[16] Fearing Allah, placing trust in Allah.

[17] Enjoining good, forbidding evil.

[18] Striving in the way of Allah, repenting, worshiping Allah, praising Allah, bowing and prostrating, enjoining good, forbidding evil, safeguarding the limits set by Allah (these are glad tidings for such people).

[19] Accepting the revelation of Allah as truth, fearing the severe reckoning, remembering Allah, believing and doing righteous deeds, not considering anyone as a deity besides Allah, relying on Him, repenting before Him. Similarly, at the following places, one should study from the Quran the deeds preferred by Allah as stated by Him, hold belief accordingly, and act accordingly.
