Supplication for Wearing New Clothes

Ḥadīth of Muʿādh ibn Anas (RA)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
من لبس ثوبا جديدا فقال: الْحَمدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي هَذَا وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ ، غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ
“Whoever wears a new garment and says: Al-ḥamdu lillāh alladhī kasānī hādhā wa razaqanīhi min ghayri ḥawlin minnī wa lā quwwah (All praise is due to Allah Who clothed me with this and provided it to me without any power or strength from myself), his past and future sins will be forgiven.”

This narration shows the virtue of reciting the prescribed supplication when wearing new clothes, as it becomes a means for forgiveness of both past and future sins.
