Hazrat Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنه) narrated:
خطبنا النبى صلى الله عليه وسلم يوم النحر
“The Prophet ﷺ delivered a khutbah to us on the Day of Sacrifice.”
He asked: “Do you know what day this is?” We replied: “Allah and His Messenger know best.” The Prophet ﷺ remained silent, and we thought he might name it differently. Then he said: “Is this not the Day of Sacrifice?” We replied: “Yes.”
He then asked: “Which month is this?” We replied: “Allah and His Messenger know best.” Again he paused, and we thought he might name it differently. Then he said: “Is it not Dhul-Hijjah?” We replied: “Yes.”
Then he asked: “Which city is this?” We replied: “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He paused, and we thought he might name it differently. Then he said: “Is this not the Sacred City?” We replied: “Yes.”
He then said: “Indeed, your blood and your wealth are sacred to you, like the sanctity of this day, this month, and this city, until you meet your Lord…”

No Arab has superiority over a non-Arab, nor a non-Arab over an Arab; neither a white person over a black, nor a black over a white — except by taqwa. Have I conveyed the message?’ The Companions replied: ‘Yes, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has conveyed it.’”
