This excerpt is taken from the Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi by Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnooat.
① Sayyiduna Jabir رضي الله عنه narrates that a funeral passed by, so the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم stood up and we also stood up with him. We said: O Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم! This was a Jew (i.e., it was a Jewish funeral). He صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
إن للموت فزعا فإذا رأيتم الجنازة فقوموا
“Death is a cause of fear (distress, anxiety, seeking help), so when you see a funeral, stand up.”

② Sayyiduna Abu Saeed Khudri رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
إذا رأيتم الجنازة فقوموا فمن تبعها فلا يقعد حتى توضع
“When you see a funeral, stand up, and whoever accompanies it should not sit until it is laid to rest.”

① Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه narrates that the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم announced the news of the death of Najashi on the very day he passed away. The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم went towards the Eidgah with the companions رضي الله عنهم, arranged their rows, and after saying four Takbirs, performed the funeral prayer.

① Sayyiduna Abu Musa رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
إن أعظم الذنوب عند الله أن يلقاه عبد بعد الكبائر التى نهى الله عنها أن يموت رجل عليه دين لا يدع له قضاء
“After the major sins which Allah has forbidden, the greatest sin in the sight of Allah is that a person meets Him while he is in debt and leaves nothing to repay it.”
