❖ Question
It is prohibited to stand for someone merely as a form of glorification. However, when our elders or teachers arrive, we stand out of respect, greet them, and offer them our place. Is this also prohibited or not?
❖ Answer
Alhamdulillah, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, Ammā baʿd!
Standing to greet with an embrace or rising to offer one’s place to another is permissible.
