Sprinkling Water on Trousers or Garments After Wudu is Correct

Hadith Reference:

Ḥāfiẓ Abū Muḥammad ʿAbdullāh bin ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Dārimī narrated in his Musnad from ʿAbdullāh bin ʿAbbās (رضي الله عنهما):
"The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performed wudu and then sprinkled water (on his garment).”

This hadith has a ṣaḥīḥ (authentic) chain of narration.

[Musnad al-Dārimī: 717 | Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī: 1/50]

Key Lessons Derived from the Hadith:

It is correct to sprinkle water on one's lower garment (such as trousers, pants, or a shawl) after wudu.
This helps remove any doubts a person may have about unintentional impurity.

This practice prevents unnecessary Waswasah (doubts and whispers from Shayṭān) about whether any impurity remains on the clothes after relieving oneself.
