If someone takes responsibility for an orphan and cares for them, for example, for a year, and during that period the orphan reaches maturity, this person is still considered to have sponsored an orphan. By the will of Allah (In Sha Allah), they will be rewarded with the virtue and promises mentioned in the Hadith regarding orphan sponsorship. However, the reward will be less compared to those who sponsored an orphan for a longer duration.

Ruling on Orphan Sponsorship:
The sponsorship of an orphan continues until the orphan reaches maturity (puberty). Once the orphan becomes mature but remains poor or needy, any support given to them thereafter is considered an act of charity (Sadaqah), not orphan sponsorship. If someone takes responsibility for an orphan and cares for them, for example, for a year, and during that period the orphan reaches maturity, this person is still considered to have sponsored an orphan. Key Points:
- Orphan sponsorship ends at maturity, after which assistance becomes Sadaqah if the individual is still in need.
- Reward depends on the duration of sponsorship, with greater reward for extended support of orphans.
